The homeowners, a young couple with a big family of five children, wanted to make a change. Their previous home design was more traditional. They wanted something a little more modern and glamorous, incorporating contemporary interior design practices.
They wanted a clean, minimalist, contemporary look without a cold, sterile appearance. This isn’t always easy.
With that in mind, the house was designed using straight & angled lines. The contemporary & trendy grey palette was avoided in most areas except the Master Bathroom, which was just for the “adults,” anyway.
In the main areas of the home, such as the foyer, kitchen, living room, dining room, and family room, we chose various shades of taupe with accents of espresso browns to add warmth while maintaining the sleek and modern style we wanted to create.
The mixing in of tan and brown shades kept it feeling comfortable with the family-friendly interior design while we were also able to mix in some of their more mature design ideas.
The element of earth was brought in with the look of stone tiles and rich brown cabinetry. The master bathroom, although designed in a grey palette, was accented by a warm grey “wood” looking tile and wavy stone wall tiles, bringing in an element of water and sand. All the finishes created a very serene and harmonious space that they have enjoyed ever since!
